Margaret Schuster asked me to make 3 quilts from her mom’s shirts, jackets and sweatshirts. She wanted something a bit more creative than just blocks so we came up with the idea of making a tree and using the clothing for the leaves. Each quilt has a different border (lavender, green and brown). In the trunk of the tree, there is a heart with the word “Mom” embroidered on it. Margaret gave two of the quilts as gifts to her brother and sister.
'This is the picture my stepdaughter took of the necktie quilt. Her comment was: "Looks beautiful. This is my favorite room in the house....now it's perfect!"'~~Barb W.
The pillows and quilt shown here were made for my good friend, Shelly S., using shirts that belonged to her grandfather. (2015)
Barb W. asked me to make quilts from her husband's and dad's neckties. What a fun project!
This quilt was made to celebrate my mother-in-law Lorna's 80th birthday. The original quilt was made by her mother and was coming apart. I salvaged as much as I could and created this memory quilt for her (2006).
